Applying for the CFP® Examination
To determine if you can write the CFP Examination, review these checklists based on your application background:
FPSC Accredited Education Path
- Have I successfully completed my FPSC-accredited educational program? [1]
- Have I acquired an official transcript [2] from this educational institution indicating my success in all applicable courses from this program?
- Have I read the Guide to CFP Examination [3]?
If you answered 'yes' to these questions, you are eligible to apply for the CFP Examination and can
apply now [4] (during a relevant exam period.)
If you have not met these conditions, please review the information found in
Part 1: Qualifying for the CFP Examination. [5]
Approved Prior Credentials Policy
- Do I hold a designation acceptable under the Approved Prior Credentials Policy [6]?
- Do I have a current letter from my conferring institution [7] to show that this designation is in good standing?
- Do I have an up-to-date, detailed resume and letter signed by my current employer verifying my 3-year work experience requirement [8]? See this PDF sample letter [9] for an example.
- Have I read the Guide to CFP Examination [10]?
If you answered 'yes' to these questions, you are eligible to apply for the CFP® examination and can
apply now [11], or print out the manual applications below.
