FPSC Announces Latest CFP® Examination Results

January 18, 2001, Toronto - The eighth Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Examination, administered by Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC) on November 18, 2000, was written by 1,681 candidates in 70 Canadian and six international centres. The national pass rate was 60.3%. Since the first sitting in June 1997, approximately 10,000 individuals have written the CFP Examination, one requirement of CFP Certification. The CFP Examination is a six-hour exam administered in two parts. The three-hour morning session consists of multiple-choice questions and the afternoon session of the same length provides a series of stand-alone case studies upon which multiple choice questions are based. Topics covered reflect the knowledge and skills required to practise as a CFP Licensee and encompass current trends in the financial services industry that relate to the professional practice of financial planning as established by academics and practicing planners.

The next scheduled CFP Examination, offered annually in the Spring and Fall in both official languages will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2001. Registration closes May 9, 2001. Exam information and applications are published on www.cfp-ca.org.
